BMI
Here is an example why the BMI chart needs to be updated…The BMI Charts are based on 1….. and I said 1 cultural and ethnic background. So when my doctor looks at me and says I’m obese, I pay him NO attention. Take me for instance, MY charts says I should weigh 165 lbs!!! I think I was 165 lbs when I was 12. In fact, at that age I was under nourished and very skinny. There are many things and factors like, your age, ethnic background, are you athletic or not, that should play into this BMI!!…. They need to update these charts and stop having people doubt themselves. African Americans or Blacks have heavier bone density, we carry more muscle period. Our make up is totally different. Now I am not saying to walk around with 40% body fat. What I am saying is, don’t’ become a slave to these numbers, because it wasn’t based on our genetic make up. And if you don’t believe me, do the research for yourself. You will be happy you did -:)
